This summer I played around the east coast in a bunch of cool cities and I tried my best to eat banging food everywhere I went. And I’ll say that I certainly was very satisfied with most of the grub I got down with. Looking back, two of the meals that killed it the hardest where brunch in Atlanta and dinner in Baltimore.

Now my mans Manikan fed me lotsss of great grub while I was in ATL for a few days but the brunch we got at Cafe 640 was super awesome and sticks out to me. Chicken and biscuits with mushroom gravy and sunny side up eggs, couple with an excellent cup of coffee (of course). I’ll state outright that mushrooms I’m pretty meh about and sunny side up is not my fave eggs, but damnnnn this dish was so on point. Everything just tasted right together and it had that vibe of being down home southern and yet also elevated slightly with some gourmet touches.

My other top spot of the summer was Red Maple in Baltimore. Chef Collin Innes personally served me a sick array tasty dishes, including a fresh off the farm eggplant special of the day. I love plantains, and the chips here could easily have been the best I’ve ever had with vanilla sea salt and fennel lightly seasoning them to perfection. I also ate some melt in your mouth rockfish with kale and a banana mango something dessert that I am craving more of as I type this…

I highly recommend you swing by these spots and stuff yer face real good.
