STUFF YER FACE: Root Beer Pulled Pork

Hey! Dem boys at Seclusiasis asked me to contribute some food related posts to the blog. Because I’m the Butcher, I felt it was necessary to kick this series off with a MEAT post!

Here is an easy and versatile recipe I’ve been using quite a bit lately…

ROOT BEER PULLED PORK!!!

All you need is the following:

Meat (Pork roast or tenderloin are what I usually use)

Root Beer (12 oz can for a 1-3 pound tenderloin, 20 oz bottle for a bigger roast – you can experiment with other sodas too)

Crock Pot

Instructions:

Step 1
Rinse meat and place in crock pot

Step 2
Add enough soda to leave meat half covered/half exposed

Step 3
Cook on low. Smaller portions of meat (tenderloins) should cook approx. 4-6 hours. Larger cuts of meat (roasts) should cook about 6-8 hours.

Step 4
Flip the meat every 2 hours or so.

Step 5
When meat begins to fall apart, it’s done. If you are using a bone in cut, the bone should slide out easily when done. Remove from crock pot and transfer to cookie sheet.

Shred the meat

Use meat in whatever creative way you can! Recently I’ve made pulled pork BBQ, pulled pork tacos, and pulled pork banh mi’s with this recipe!!!
