MIK x BD1982 – Shadow Of Death (Elsewhere Remix)
It’s no secret that Slit Jockey Records and Seclusiasis are sister labels, sharing similar interests and sounds but having unique outlooks and focuses at the same time. Last year we jumped off a series of free promo singles, called Seclus Jockey, and have gotten the interwebs hype with tracks from DJ Cable, Mr. Mitch, Dev79, Sduk and more. The latest Seclus Jockey is Elsewhere’s remix of MIK and BD1982’s “Shadow of Death” – from MIK’s forthcoming Slit Jockey release “Contrast”.
Hailing from South East London, MIK is an integral member of the reigning Grime crew Family Tree. Alongside MCs Merky Ace, Ego, TKO, Shifman and producers Faze Miyake and Splurt Diablo, Family Tree is the Wu Tang Clan of Grime.
Resident of Japan and longtime Seclusiasis artist, BD1982, co-manages the iconic Diskotopia Records. His original production for MIK’s “Shadow of Death” draws influences from Tribal Future House as much as it does from abstract Grime.
Elsewhere reps Liminal Sounds and Get Some. His story, in his own words, is as follows:
“I’m Sam. I DJ and produce under the name Elsewhere, a project I started when I realized it was no longer acceptable to listen to Shania Twain. I have since gone on to receive widespread acclaim from my family. My mum encouraged me to set up Liminal Sounds as a means of meeting friends. So far, it hasn’t worked. She now pays Get Some to let me tag along and get me out of the house.”
