MANIKAN EP and Philly Release Party!

It’s no secret that the Trap is latest fad genre. However, unlike the countless other producers jumping the Trap train, the Atlanta via California producer, MANIKAN, has an intrinsic kinship with the Trap sound. With his latest, On The Grind, MANIKAN delivers an intoxicating aural journey through a series of haunting melodies ascending above rhythmic trapped out percussion. On The Grind is not “pop” trap – it’s mediation on the fledgling genre.

For example, “Tequila Jackson” mixes a hip-hop swagger with deep, old school dubstep vibes, while others, such as “S.L.A.M.”, a collaboration with Seclusiasis head honcho, Dev79, moves back n’ forth between heady and thumpin’. The club ready “Say Whats ^” and “The South” are perfectly balanced by the romantic 808 tinged “On The Grind” and “Dream Snatcher”. For a mere six tracks, On the Grid is an opus.

On Saturday October 20th we’re bringing up the Atlanta homeboy MANIKAN to celebrate the release of his new EP in Philly! If you’re in the area, come check him out alongside label captain Dev79 and rising talent Krueger (Paradisiaca, Silverback) on the main floor with the Blok Boyz hosting on the mic and VJ Kraken rocking video projections. The 2nd floor lounge will be held down by DJs Dr. Ew, Apple Juce, Lara and Ditchdigger. Gonna be a blast! Kung Fu Nectie is at 1250 N. Front St in the Fishtown area of Philly.

MANIKAN aka Mitch Brown is an Atlanta-based producer/DJ/promoter, who is a welcomed gasp of fresh air in the global dance culture. Originally born and raised on the West Coast, MANIKAN has managed to make moves in the Dirty South with his high-energy sets and unique production talents. When MANIKAN isn’t destroying dance floors he is furious in the studio and organizing parties throughout the ATL. Keep your heads up and your ears open.
